Dr. Bater’s illustrious career includes contributions to renewable energy sectors such as hydro, wind, solar, mines and landfill gas. He has also played a critical role in auditing nuclear facilities and overseeing regulated radiological protection for the Environment Agency (EA). Additionally, his expertise extends to applying process safety management principles to cutting-edge technologies including hydrogen, underscoring his commitment to advancing sustainable and safe energy practices.

As the author of the revision of the Energy Institute’s process safety management framework and founder of Safepath Leadership Ltd, Dr. Bater’s expertise in safety audits and cultural change programs will add significant value to Phi’s operations.

Dr. Bater has also contributed to academic excellence as a lecturer and researcher at the Open University. In this role, he has authored study guides, edited course materials, and taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students, focusing on energy and sustainability.
